Currently Reading | December 19

Last week I posted my review of Terry Goodkind's Nest.

It was a very rough week last week ending with my 20 year old cat passing away. I didn't get much reading done - just Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.

I need help with my Goodreads challenge. I only need 5 more books, but with everything I have going on right now, I'm going to really have to push through. I think I got the Agatha Christie idea from a random twitter thread, and it was a great help. If you have any recommendations for short books that will grab my attention I would really appreciate it! I'll probably hit up the library for a graphic novel or two.

What about you? What are you reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  1. I think I'm 5 books behind on my GR challenge as well:-/ I'm reading Congress of Secrets by Stephanie Burgis right now, but reading is not going very well as I'm so distracted by Christmas preparations!

  2. So sorry to hear about your cat. Losses like that are so hard, especially at this time of year. I'm starting a new book tonight but it's between 3 so I don't know what one I will pick!

    1. It's truly the worst time. :( I guess there's no good time, though, is there?

  3. Sorry to hear about your cat, I know they become family and it is always a sad time. Mm some graphic novels sound good, or what about some picture books!!

    1. My husband suggested picture books, too. :) I don't count anything smaller than a novella, though. Sometimes I will add and rate things I read with the kids, but I don't include them in the challenge.

  4. Oh no- sorry to hear about your cat! :(:(:(

I should read or listen to Orient Express at some point- or Death on the Nile. I have trouble getting into Christie.

Did you read Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant? It's a novella so that might help. Killer mermaids lol. And the Alex and Ada graphic novels are good. Saga is supposed to be as well.

    1. Thanks. I really love Christie's writing. I haven't read many, though. OH YEAH! I totally wanted to read Rolling in the Deep after your review. Those mockumentary things really piss me off. LOL. Saga! I think that's the one I was trying to remember at the library this week. THANKS!!

    1. Thanks, Mogsy. I'm off of work for the holidays and she's noticeably missing, but I'm OK. It was her time; I just miss her a lot.

  7. Aww... Jennifer, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. :( Hope you're doing okay.

In regards to short books I read this year..The Thief of Always by Clive Barker was excellent. Adulthood Is a Myth by Sarah Andersen is a hilarious graphic novel. Also, Texts from Jane Eyre. Hope you find a way to meet your goal! :)

  8. Thanks, Bonnie. I'm OK. Heartbroken, but OK. Ooh, The Thief of Always. That might be great. I got a few graphic novels from the library. I will have to mark Adulthood is a Myth for next year. :D Texts? from Jane Eyre? I feel like I should know what that is! (*off to Goodreads*) Thanks!
