Do you get to have a long weekend this weekend? My kids had a half-day on Friday and have Monday off so it's nice to have a long break (even though we just returned from the holidays).
This was a great reading week for me - my first 5⭐ of the year! Have you landed on a 5⭐ read yet? If so, let me know what you read!

Book Review | Ophie's Ghosts by ⭐⭐⭐⭐★
Finished Reading
The Ghost of Midnight Lake by Lucy Strange ⭐⭐⭐⭐★ - I really enjoyed this one. I wound up listening to the audiobook which was narrated by the author.
Ghost Girl by Ally Malinenko ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I loved this one! I will have some thoughts out some for each of these.
Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney ⭐⭐⭐💫★ - I enjoyed this one, but it was a little frustrating, too.
Currently Reading
Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire - I'm taking my sweet time with this one. I think I'm a little nervous!
Exposed Nerves by Lucy A. Snyder - This is OK so far. Nothing is really jumping out at me yet, but I'm enjoying it.
Unsouled by Will Wight - I started listening to this last night, and I'm really enjoying it. I've heard so many great things about this series, and it sounds like every book just gets better than the last.

I have had plenty of 4.5 star books, but no fives yet. We are off when the stock market closes, and I am happy about the long weekend. Hope you and family have lots of fun with the extra time.
ReplyDeleteHooray for the long weekend! I'm off on Monday, as well, and am so excited for the extra day. And another hooray for the first 5 star read of the year. None for me yet but then again I am *super stingy* when my 5 star ratings. :)
ReplyDeleteLots of good books! Haven't seen that Justina Ireland one before, I'll have to check it out. I'm enjoying a long weekend myself! Have a great week!

We do have a 3 day weekend. I wasn't sure if I had a 5 star read yet so I had to go look, I sadly haven't! Glad you had your first of the year :) My husband and son really enjoy Brandon Sanderson. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteWe stay home so it seems like every day is the same. I've had a few 5 heart reads this year. One Step Too Far by Lisa Gardner, Hellbent by Gregg Hurwitz. I've been doing LOTS of reading though. I'm glad there is a long weekend for many with the weather snow/freezing rain here. I can drive in it having lived in Minnesota many years but I don't trust the drivers from here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I've already had a couple of 5's and the year is so young :) So many great books. I hope you enjoy yours. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAll of the ghost books look really good to me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I both have Monday off and my daughter as well. Not that we have any big plans, but the extra day off will be nice. Yay for five start reads! Ghost Girl sounds so good! I hope you are enjoying your current reads! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read dead Silence.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finding a 5-star read! I haven't found one yet, but the two books I'm reading right now are promising.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a long weekend unfortunately! And that's so good when you have a 5 stars read!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your long weekend! Having a break right after a break can definitely be wonderful. And all of these books look excellent! I've actually seen a ton of praise for Ghost Girl, but it's neat to see that it stood out to you among the crowd of MG books. (And I love the emoji you use for half-stars!) And I've had a few 5-star reads so far, although a lot were December reads I'm just now posting about (and the January one I won't be reviewing for a while)—the one today is another MG novel called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane! And I'm glad what you're reading now is reasonably enjoyable. Thanks so much for the wonderful post, Jen!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed the day off. I had to work. Yay for your first 5 star read of the year! I've had one 5 star read, (The Siren of Sussex) too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI liked the Pittsburgh setting of Ophie's Ghosts, and the title has been fairly popular with my students. Looks like you had a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteHaven't read any of these. As for five-star reads, I haven't had any yet. That is, I rated one book five stars on Goodreads just because you can't use half stars there. It sounds like you had a fantastic reading week indeed. Hope you enjoyed your long weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have read a few five star reads this year - especially picture books. Maybe I would have given some of them less, but like Astrid before me, you can't give half stars on Goodreads. I listened to Ophie's Ghosts and it was narrated by Bahni Turpin. Almost anything she narrates is worth 5 stars.
