The countdown to Christmas is here! I'm trying to spend the weekend getting all of my gifts wrapped and making sure I have everything I need. Today is my youngest son's birthday so today will be spent playing and entertaining his every whim. There will also be cupcakes! I bought him a karaoke microphone so the entire house is going to be mad at me pretty soon. 😂
Posted Since My Last Update
Finished Reading
I finished reading Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. I enjoyed it for what it was. You can check out my review for my thoughts. ⭐⭐⭐⭐★
I also finished reading Ghost Squad by Claribel A. Ortega, and I absolutely loved it. My review has been posted for this one as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This week I also read The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf. I really loved this one, too! I will have a review out soon. ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Currently Reading
I'm currently reading In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. It started out SO GOOD, but I'm starting to get disappointed. I'm really, really hoping things get back to my expectations soon. Next time I buy a rom-com, someone please remind me that I don't like romance 😂 I'm going to be the first jerk to not like this book.
Added to the TBR
My Book of the Month pick for December is The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. BotM did me right by thrillers last year so I'm going to be a little more open to their selections this coming year. This is an early release so it's not out until January. I'm going to save it to read in 2021.
I added In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren to my BotM box because I've been hearing so many great things and 2020 needs all of the Christmas cheer.
I ordered a cheap, used copy of The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, and I was sent a first edition! I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the package. I'll insert a photo here for you to see.
Wow. It's a great day when you open up the package that contains the cheap, used book you bought off the internet and find a first edition inside 😍 #BookMail pic.twitter.com/hDZH0gaY0J

So what about you? Let me know what you're reading (or watching) this week or leave me some links!
This post is being shared as part of Book Date's It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Caffeinated Book Reviewer's The Sunday Post.
I am curious about the Hawkins books. I fell in love with her via the Hex Hall books, but am still interested. I think I know what part of In a Holidaze you are reading. It took a turn I wasn't fond of, but it got back on track for me. I loved it. Hope it ends well for you
ReplyDeleteThat's where I've heard her name!
DeleteI read one Christina Lauren book and it just wasn't for me. I always think I should try their books again, though. Good luck with your present wrapping! I'm doing that today too, although I'm still waiting for some online shopping packages to show up😁
ReplyDeleteThanks! I didn't do so well with the wrapping. LOL.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your son! I also need to get my stuff together and hope it got everything I need for xmas, wrapping starts next week.
ReplyDeleteGhost Squad looks so cute!
I hope you have a great week, Jen! Happy Reading!
Thank you! We had a nice birthday at home.
DeleteOh wow! Yay for your first edition. Nice early Christmas present!
ReplyDeleteThat was such a fun surprise!
DeleteThe karaoke sounds fun. Hope you get all your gift wrapped this weekend. Enjoy your books and have a great week! I just started a new book blog so I am just getting started again. I had a book blog before for many years. If you are interested I have a post on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jamie! I will definitely check out your blog. Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteWhat a fun gift, though you may be tempted to pretend you have no batteries for it sooner rather than later :) My husband and son also have birthdays this month
ReplyDeleteThe first edition is a bonus!
Wishing you a great reading week
Right? It has a charger like a phone so I may be hiding all of the chargers at some point. Haha.
DeleteHaha that microphone sounds fun! (maybe) Hope you guys have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about In A Holidaze, been seeing it everywhere!
Have an awesome week!
So far it's pretty fun other than him calling me from across the house with it. MOOOM! 😂
DeleteI loved In a Holidaze after it got going. Give it a chance. There was a slow part between maybe 10-30%
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I've only been seeing positive reviews for it. It just wasn't a good fit for me, unfortunately.
DeleteGreat idea, the karaoke *grins devilishly*. I remember when my eldest was small and the town offered parents a wooden toy that rattled the floor and I thought that it was going to start a war between neighbours in appartments, lol. The first edition is a completely good surprise, thumbs up !
ReplyDeleteHaha. The karaoke has been fun so far, but we'll see. :)
DeleteI need to get to Ready Player Two soon! I just finished my reread of Ready Player One :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you wind up enjoying it! It will put you right back into that world.
