Best Books I’ve Read So Far
I love the fact that The Luminous Dead is on my best books list and on Mogsy's biggest disappointments list. This year has been rough in the horror community with people speaking out against negative reviews. I often retreat into my blogging bubble and this is why. I love you guys.
Biggest Disappointments
I enjoyed both Children of Time and Wuthering Heights, but I expected to love them and didn't quite make it there.
Biggest Surprises
I recommend each of these books!
Favorite New Authors
More, please. I need mooooore.
Books That Made Me Cry
Each of these books touched me in different ways.
Books That Made Me Happy
I found some happiness in each of these books this year.
Best Book To Film Adaptation
I'm cheating because I haven't seen the adaptations for The House Next Door or Ghost Story, but they have been adapted and I loved reading the books this year.
Favorite Post
I'm going to select my 2019 TBR Jar post because it makes me happy each time I finally sit down with one of the books from this list.
Books I Need to Read By the End of the Year
How did the first half of the year go for you? Let me know which books would make your list and consider yourself tagged!
I enjoyed doing this tag too and it's so much fun to see everyone's answers.
ReplyDeleteI love this tag. ❤️
DeleteI wasn't crazy about The Luminous Dead either, but I completely missed the horror community drama that you mentioned! Or maybe I read that wrong😊 Wilder Girls is a book I'm dying to read at some point.
ReplyDeleteHorror folks are the NICEST people, but the community has gotten increasingly toxic over the last year. I've blacklisted more authors in the past year than the last almost 10 years I've been blogging combined. It's heartbreaking.
DeleteOoooh, be sure to let me know what you think if you pick up Wilder Girls!
Be glad you missed it, Tammy! I wish I had.
DeleteAt least I didn't suffer alone. :)
DeleteI really want to read Wilder Girls. It looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's soooo good. I want you to read it. :)
DeleteI love finding new authors, who delight me, and you found three. That's awesome. I never read Ghost Story, but I saw the movie way back when. I feel like they redid that one too, no?
ReplyDeleteYes, I will 100% read more from these authors. I think there's only one Ghost Story, but I could be wrong!
DeleteYeah, I'm not a big book tag person but this was a fun one to do! And haha, I must have missed the horror community drama as well, but I just assume that kinda thing just happens with every genre community :D And I agree, sometimes it's the books that we "like" but expected to "love" that are the most disappointing. And I must get to Wolfhunter River soon, I was a bit surprised to see it in the "happy" category but I'm not complaining! The protagonist in that series is due some happiness :D

I'm sure it does happen in every community. It just took awhile for it to reach mine. Hahahaha. There is no happiness in Wolfhunter River, that's why it made me happy! I'm such a sick person. :)
Delete(Actually I was just really happy to be reading it and happy to discover the series is going to last a while.)
DeleteSkip that House Next Door adaptation. They cut out out all of the juicy parts! I was so sad, haha.
ReplyDeleteI totally want to see it. LOL
DeleteRecursion is amazing. I liked it a little less than Dark Matter, but it's so good. And the Magic Tree House books just look fun even though I've never read them. They kinda remind me of the Choose Your Own Adventure books even though I know they're totally different.
ReplyDeleteWilder Girls I NEED to read.
GAH! I need to read Recursion like RIGHT NOW. I am not skilled at balancing my TBR. Oh, I loved Choose Your Own Adventure! Those make me happy, too. You do need Wilder Girls!
DeleteSo many of these are on my TBR!! Awesome post!
