I have a few nonfiction books on the go right now, and I'm really looking forward to some buddy reads I have lined up for the next few weeks. I'm very fortunate to have friends who read with me!
If you haven't read Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury yet (or if you are due for a reread!), we are going to be doing a Buddy Read over at the Horror Aficionados group on Goodreads starting August 6.
I would love for you to join in. This will be my first time reading it.
Finished Reading
Nameless: The Darkness Comes by Mercedes M. Yardley - This was my first full length Mercedes Yardley book to read.
A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver - This was a lovely little book on poetry and forms.
Currently Reading
Rules for the Dance: A Handbook for Writing and Reading Metrical Verse by Mary Oliver - More poetry nonfiction from Mary Oliver.
Lost Highways: Dark Fictions From the Road by D. Alexander Ward - This is shaping up to be a great anthology.
We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix - This is fabulous. I'm such a Grady Hendrix fan.
Recently Acquired
Candle and Pins by Jacqueline West - Jacqueline West sent me a copy of her beautiful poetry collection.
The Sea Was a Fair Master by Calvin Demmer - Many thanks to Calvin Demmer for sending me a copy of his short story collection.
Ilium (Ilium #1) by Dan Simmons - Ilium was a Goodwill find I couldn't resist.
Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal by J.K. Rowling, Alicia Dellepiane Rawson (Translator) - I made the mistake of looking up the Spanish print editions of Harry Potter. I had no idea how gorgeous they were, and I clearly need them all.
Harry Potter y la camara secreta by J.K. Rowling, Adolfo Muñoz García (Translator), Nieves Martín Azofra (Translator) - The first two editions were my Prime Day picks.
Tau Zero by Poul Anderson - This book is all Lilyn. I was frightened of Tau Zero, but now that I have it in my hands, it's not as intimidating as I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to checking it out.
So what about you? Let me know what you're reading this week or leave me some links!
This post is being shared as part of Book Date's It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Caffeinated Book Reviewer's The Sunday Post.
I’ve always been curious about Dandelion Wine and if I wasn’t swamped with summer crap I’d join you guys.
ReplyDeleteI will try my best to write up a review. It came very highly recommended. I'm going into it pretty blind, though.
DeleteI love Dandelion Wine! If I didn't have so many August books to review, I'd join you😁 And Ilium! I loved that too. Those HP editions are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh, you've read Dandelion Wine! It has been very highly recommended to me. I can't wait to read it for the first time. :)
DeleteI hope you enjoy Dandelion Wine! It's one of my favorite books. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I can't wait!!
DeleteOMG, those Spanish Harry Potter books are so cute! I can’t read Spanish very well, but I want them. I hope you enjoy your new books. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm not a strong reader in Spanish either, but hopefully I will continue to improve. I have some tougher books that were originally written in Spanish I would like to read. I decided starting with books that I already know well (like Harry Potter) would be a good starting point.
DeleteI love all the different Harry Potter covers. They just keep coming up with new ones for the English ones as well. I have my eyes set on the House Editions.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm trying so hard not to buy any more English editions. I mostly got these because I'm reading through them in Spanish right now on ebook, and I couldn't resist owning them in print after seeing those covers. I'm so easily tempted by a good Potter cover.
DeleteWhee, so glad to read your comment on We Sold Our Souls. The author's previous book was a bit of a miss for me, so to hear that you had fun with this one is making me very excited to check it out.

I've loved all of Grady that I've read so far so keep that in mind. :) I'm just about halfway through so I can't give it a full recommendation yet. I am enjoying myself so far, though!
DeleteThere are lots of great Harry Potter covers around the world! I'm glad I have a gorgeous set of my own!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could own them all, but realistically I need to not own them all. LOL.
DeleteOh no! Reading slumps sucks! I don't want the summer to end either, time is going by way too fast (it's not fair). No offense, but I rarely read non-fiction book like novels haha. I enjoy them, but I don't read them like novels. I still like your books though (they seem very interesting). I hope you enjoy Harry Potter! Have a great week and thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteI did better in July than I thought I did. Summer is always a struggle for reading. You didn't offend me at all!! I love non-fiction, and I don't read nearly enough of it. It's a good thing to turn to when I'm slumping.
DeleteI need to grab a copy of Dandelion Wine. I want to participate with you guys :) I hope to grab Lost Highways soon and I am anxious for the Grady Hendrix book but please tell me there are no more dog casualties.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you join in on Dandelion Wine!! No dogs in sight so far, but... you know how I feel about kids.
DeleteGreat variety of books! I am pretty sure I read Dandelion Wine years ago. While a re-read might be fun, I need to concentrate on reading what is already on my calendar. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI know. Everyone has tight review schedules right now!
DeleteThose harry potter editions are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Valerie @ Cats Luv Coffee
Thanks! I hope you are having an excellent week!
DeleteLost Highways is now on my wishlist. My weekly updates
ReplyDeleteI hope you love it if you read it!
DeleteI have a hard time reading in the summer too, sometimes, with everything going on. Lost Highways looks fun.
ReplyDeleteDandelion wine- I don't think I've ever read. I'm not sure I've read Bradbury at all, actually, which is probably bad. I'll have to go check it out...
I didn't read Bradbury until this year, and I fell madly in love with him. I need to read everything he has ever written. Someday you should join me! :)
DeleteI'm so excited about our Dandelion Wine buddy read! :)
ReplyDeleteYES!! Me, tooooo! We will be so much better at this one than our LOTR readalong. Haha. :)
