Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward - Sing, Unburied, Sing is on my list of books I most want to read this year. When I saw it pop up on Edelweiss, I had to grab it.
The Horror on the Links: The Complete Tales of Jules De Grandin, Volume One by Seabury Quinn - Jules De Grandin is a supernatural detective created by Seabury Quinn. Seabury Quinn's stories were popular in Weird Tales magazine alongside H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. He wrote 93 stories featuring Jules De Grandin, and they are being collected together across five volumes in chronological order. This is volume one!

My Stacking the Shelves
I think that story is from a larger collection. Be sure to check it out, too!
Deletehahaha you guys say Hermione like Krum does. I just finished my re-read and already I'd like to go back. Once my friend finishes Hallows we've talked about trying out some fanfic. We'll see. lol
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I know I'm going to break down and read them again before she's done. Are you guys going to read the James Potter books? I'm so curious about those.
DeleteOooo, Jennifer, you read Frostblood! What did you think? It was one of my favorites I read last year. I can't wait to read the second book. :D I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend. =)
Check out my STS post!
I may post my review for it tomorrow. I think she's a great writer - I enjoyed it.
DeleteLooks like a good week of reads! I love that your mom is reading HP for the first time. I don't remember how I was pronouncing Hermione's name but I know I was way off.
ReplyDeleteThe struggle is real. :)
DeleteI'm very interested in Sing, Unburied Sing and look forward to your thoughts. It's great your mom is reading Harry Potter. Mine would never consider them.
ReplyDeleteI hope my mom sticks with it. I'm excited about it.
DeleteI'm really curious about Frost Blood, been eyeing that one for months debating whether I should try it. Looking forward to your thoughts :)

I was expecting more fantasy, less romance, and that's entirely my fault. I think you would have the same reaction I did that there's not much there you haven't read before. It was well written, though. I enjoyed it.
DeleteYAY for your mom reading HP! That's great. I love when others finally pick up that series. I'm not familiar with the books you got this week, but I hope you love them!

I hope she loves them like I do. At least now she'll know what the fuss is all about. :)
DeleteIn the Dark and Deep looks interesting. LOL about your Mom and the Potter books. That is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI think I originally thought Hermy- own too even though I've only ever read the 1st one. Still that's a tough name. :)
ReplyDeleteFrost Blood and the Sea Tales both look interesting- the sea one is newer to me, I don't think I've seen it.
I remembered when I first read Harry Potter, I used to pronounce Hermoine's name as "Her-mo-o-nay" and my teachers had to correct me on that pronunciation! I was so embarrassed!

Your two new books are not books that I have heard of. I will have to take a closer look at Sing, Unburied Sing since you are so excited about it. I read Frostblood this past week as well and really enjoyed it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAh, I love that your mum is reading Harry Potter!
ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy Rosemary's Baby? Of the three Ira Levin books I've read, that was least favourite.
I hope you have a great week, and happy reading!
Ooo, a classic-era supernatural detective sounds great to me. Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteHorror In the Links looks interesting. I hope you love it :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to have hooked your Mom into reading the HP books, now no teasing!!
ReplyDeleteNice assortment of books. Hermione does lend itself to all sorts of pronunciations, doesn't it? You can see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI really need to revisit the world of Harry Potter. It has been way too long. I think I pronounced Hermione the same way you did! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I had no idea how to pronounce Hermione. I finally heard someone say it on TV, and I was like, “Oh, that’s how you say it!” I hope you have a great week!
