And yet, my pile is so high. I can't imagine how many books would have been a favorite as well if given the opportunity.
Out of the 57 books I've read so far in 2015, these are the books I rated 5 stars:
The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey {my review}
Stinger by Robert McCammon {no review}
The Princess Bride by William Goldman {my review}
A Nearer Moon by Melanie Crowder {my review}
Sour Candy by Kealan Patrick Burke {my review}
Honorable Mentions
These books didn't get 5 star ratings, but they were stand out reads worth mentioning. Paul Trembley's A Head Full of Ghosts, Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front, and the entire Wayward Pines trilogy.After making my list I noticed I only have 1 woman author on my favorites list this year. I apparently only read 14 books by women this year. I need to start paying attention again to what I'm reading.
Have you posted any "best of" or "favorites" lists this year? I would love to read them. Please leave me a link to your post if you can!
This post is being shared as part of The Broke and the Bookish's Top Ten Tuesday.
The Girl with All the Gifts was on my list last year, and it's still one of my favorite books of all time. I meant to read A Head Full of Ghosts but just didn't have time. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI bet Girl made a lot of lists last year. I'm not a timely reader. :)
DeleteOh, I need to read THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS. I even have the follow up on hand. Shame on me for not reading it yet!

I can't wait for his new book now, either! Haha. Yes, The Princess Bride is definitely reread worthy.
DeleteI have Sour Candy on my Amazon wishlist and hope to pick it up soon. I also want to read The Girl With All the Gifts. Great list.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will enjoy them both!
DeleteI read The Girl With All the Gifts last year but it definitely made my list of favorites as well! Such an incredible book. I have got to read a Robert McCammon one of these days! So many fantastic sounding books he's written (and I own a few already). Maybe in 2016. :)
ReplyDeleteSOMEDAY BONNIE! Someday. :)
DeleteI almost forgot about The Nearer Moon. I saw your review and wanted to get my hands on it. Must find it.
ReplyDeleteYes. That's the best thing about end of year lists - remembering those GEMS!
DeleteI only found out about A Head Full of Ghosts recently, like within the last few weeks or so, and I have no idea why it took me this long! It sounds awesome!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Marce, it's so good to see you! And second, your comment really touched me. I do feel like the oddball a lot of the time.
