September 29 | Currently Reading

Last week was a really slow reading week. My kids had so much make-up work on top of their regular assignments after they returned to school from being sick. Our entire week was about homework, homework, homework.

If you missed my banned books week review of The Great Gatsby, you can find that here. I also posted the books that made it on to my wishlist.

I'm just about finished up with The Neon Rain by James Lee Burke. It's a really great read, but not one that I felt I needed to rush back to reading each day.

I'm not sure what I'm going to read this week. I'm probably going to read Gone Girl since the movie is going to be released this week, and I've somehow managed to keep from being spoiled so far. I'm afraid that won't last long once the movie is out.

Have you read Gone Girl yet? Do have plans to watch the movie? I have a pretty solid rule that I can't watch an adaptation unless I've read it first. I miss out on a lot of movies.

I'd love to hear what you're reading this week. Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

  2. I am so excited to see the movie! I am not sure about the casting, but we shall see. You should add Dark Places to your list as well lol. ;) That is my favorite Flynn, and it is coming to the big screen soon. Not to be bossy or anything. Lol.

  3. I'll have to check out your Great Gatsby review. Neon Rain sounds kinda interesting, the blurb almost reminds me of one of those 80's detective/ cop movies for some reason.

    1. I'm surprised there hasn't been a Dave Robicheaux movie by now. It seems to be a popular series.

  4. I loved GONE GIRL (and all of Flynn's books, to be honest. Both of her other titles do have adaptations in the works as well.)! I'm really looking forward to the movie. Hubs of course hasn't read the movie so while I'll know the twists I'll also be looking forward to seeing his reaction.

    1. My hubs doesn't read fiction any more so it will be the same for us. One of the reasons I love adaptations is because I know that's the only way he'll experience the books I love. Haha.

  7. I listened to the audio of Gone Girl. All I can say is, "woah". I'll see the movie for sure because I want to compare it to the book.

    1. Really? That's great to hear. I've been thinking about grabbing the audiobook from my library. I probably will!
