Summer! Summer has officially arrived for the Book Den family. School ended on Tuesday, baseball season ended on Saturday. No more homework, no more practice, no more games: hello extra reading time.
Do your reading habits change in the summer? Do you believe certain books make better "summer reads"?
This week I'm reading Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes. I mentioned last week that I'm in a non-fiction kick. A new Stephen King was definitely the thing to drag me back to fiction. It's been a while since I've wanted to stay up reading all night.
What are you guys reading this week? Be sure to let me know in the comments or leave me a link!

I do sometimes pick books based on the seasons- but there's no rhyme or reason to it LOL. Something will look like a good summer read, but if it was fall- maybe I'd be like whatever and move on. :) Anyway hope you enjoy the new King.
ReplyDeleteHurray for summer! I've been on a nonfiction kick for a couple of weeks now... it's a nice change of pace. This week I have nonfiction on audio, but am back to fiction in print with Anna Quindlen's latest. Hope you enjoy Mr. Merecedes.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for school to be out! Just 4 more days, only 3.5 left with students! :)
ReplyDeleteI read very seasonally, and I definitely read "summer reads". This year my husband is building me a little summer reads book shelf, I am so excited! Lol.
I meant to add I am so jealous you are reading Mr. Mercedes! I want to read that! Lol.
DeleteI always think that I'm going to have more reading time in the summer, but it never works out that way. I'm currently reading Rooms by Lauren Oliver and in 2 weeks I've only made it to 55% =)
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see what you think about Mr. Mercedes. I still have Doctor Sleep in my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
I get more reading done in the summer for sure, since I am a school librarian, summer is my free time! Hope the new Stephen King book is good!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Monday post
Big month on the fantasy front. Currently reading Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence. Mr. Mercedes is definitely on my list, so I'll be curious on your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to stay up all night to read London by Edward Rutherfurd the last few nights. It would help make a dent in a very large book!
ReplyDeleteSummer seems like a good time of year to get your fiction mojo back.
I started Mr. Mercedes too. King is a "drop everything and read" for me. And I tend to read more in the summer too.
ReplyDeleteYou know I have never heard of this one by Stephen King and I have read a lot of his books. Off to Goodreads!
ReplyDeleteI'm eager to read this one, too, Jen! I'm almost finished with Clive Barker's IMAJICA: BOOK 1, and so far it's great, but I'll have to go on eBay and buy Book 2 immediately because I want to know how this massive story ends. Lol.
ReplyDeleteMy reading habits change in the summer. I read less since I'm outside way more. The fall-spring is my prime reading time.
I hope you and the family have a good weekend!
