Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts {5}

It has been far too long since I've sat down to do a bookish thoughts post! Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a random posting of what's on my mind bookish and otherwise. Sometimes 10 things, sometimes less, always hosted by Bookishly Boisterous.
  1. This year has been fantastic for reading so far. I started last year in such a slump. I went over 6 months without a single five star read. I'm so happy to be in an upswing this year!

  2. The problem with being in an upswing is my increased lack of reviewing. I don't want to stop to analyze, I want to read, read more. Also, pointing out the flaws is a much easier task than putting into words why I love something. It's not always tangible.

  3. The final Divergent trailer was released this week. I mentioned my lack of excitement in my previous bookish thoughts post. I didn't have an emotional reaction to the previews the same way I did with The Hunger Games trailer. THAT HAS CHANGED. This final trailer was definitely different from the rest and now I'M ON BOARD.

  4. I still have no intention of reading the rest of the Divergent series.

  5. Expect lots and lots of gushing from me over the Paradox Trilogy in the near future, though. My God. I just finished Honor's Knight, but I was coming off of 2 days with no sleep so I'm going to go back and reread at least the last half. It's way too good to leave it this blurry in my head.

  6. I still can't let go of J.K. Rowling's regrets. Fuckin' J.K., I swear.

  7. It's Women in Horror month! If I may make some suggestions:

  8. I'm going to continue the awesomeness that is re-reading this month. The gang over at The Midnight Garden is having a read-along of The Golden Compass. If you've never read the His Dark Materials trilogy and would like to have ALL THE FEELS and your heart shattered along with me, please join! It's an amazing series.

Let me hear your thoughts this week! Do you have any feels over the new Divergent trailer? Will you be participating in Women in Horror Month? Feel free to let out all of your J.K. Rowling rage. I AM HERE TO LISTEN. I know some of you Harry/Hermione shippers are over the moon, and that's OK, too. Are you in an upswing so far this year? What book are you currently pushing?

  1. You know, it really is hard to put into words exactly why I enjoy a book sometimes too! I wonder why that's so much more difficult.

As for the HP news, argh! I like Ron!

I've still not read DIVERGENT and if I had that first trailer as the only thing to go by, I'm not sure I'd be interested. The new trailer is WAY more interesting and I am kind of stoked about reading it and seeing it now.

  2. The only reason I'd watch the Divergent movie is to mock it. Sorry but that's how I feel. The whole J.K/Harry Potter thing is just another dang publicity stunt if you ask me. Like she didn't earn enough money??? Sheesh!

  3. I am going to have to check out the read-along! I have only read the first in the series, but I loved it.

I don't know where I fall with this debate, Harry or Ron. I think I like her with Ron! :)

  4. Actually her full interview has her saying that she was happy with her decision in the end. I believe Hypable has it up. As for Divergent I don't care. I'm not going to invest my time in the films knowing the series ended so crappily. Also I really dislike Shailene as an actress she's fine with Comedy but she is like Kristen Stewart when it comes to drama. Ah, I could rant all day.....I'm gonna have to check out some of your horror recomends for sure! Have a great weekend btw :)

  5. Okay, that trailer was a lot better than what I've seen. I've been feeling like these movies were going to be weak compared to the books. But to be honest, I'm still not sold and I'm not sure about the actors they chose either. Thank you for the women in horror suggestions! They are looking good. Never read the Golden Compass but I may have to join in on this one. I was actually really happy Rowling ended the books the way she did. I hate this idea that one of the main characters always needs to die for the books to be dramatic enough. I'm glad for a true happy ending once in awhile.

  7. Yeah the Divergent trailer has been slightly excited and SLIGHTLY willing to try the rest of the series but I'm really not sure. I stopped at one.
Eeeee so glad you liked Honor's Knight too!! I cannot freaking wait for Heaven's Queen. *grabby hands*
Gah. And I can't even believe the amount of people that agree with her about Hermione and Harry. The thing I loved most about the Hermione and Ron combo is it was so unlikely. Not cliché. It would have been too NORMAL for Hermione to end up with Harry.

  8. I haven't read the Divergent books I don't plan to anytime soon LOL. Oh I know what you mean by when you are in a reading groove you don't want to stop to write a review because it MESSES with your groove!

So yeah - I'm not interested in reading JKs regrets haha. AHHHH I MUST read the Paradox books I still haven't read the first and I must be flogged.

  9. That trailer for Divergent looks pretty good, I have to say. I have not read the books but I want to see the movie after seeing that.

  11. I see no problem at all with reading and not reviewing! I've been doing that for the last several months. Is it sad that I still haven't read Divergent? Everyone says I should read it, but I am at a point where series don't really do it for me anymore.

You and I are both on the same page when it comes to JK Rowling. I dislike her immensely for that.

  12. "pointing out the flaws is a much easier task than putting into words why I love something"

I love reading books that are 5 stars but I hate reviewing them because all I want to say is "I loved it. Read it now!"

I'm sorry that you had such a long slump but I'm glad things are going better now! Reading slumps suck!

  13. I didn't read Divergent yet. Should I? It's in my book room, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I like the way the HP series went...I think that JK stating that she has regrets is kind of odd...it's kind of like, get over it already! The HP books are done and are brilliant. What makes me mad is she killed Sirius and a Weasley twin. If she wants to regret something she should regret that!

  14. Eeee! I'm glad to see you liked FORTUNE'S PAWN, and look, you've already read HONOR'S KNIGHT, too. So happy you loved them, can't wait for your review.

I haven't read the last DIVERGENT book either, but I'm hoping the films will be fun. That's kind of the most I hope for these days.

  15. I am in no way excited about Divergent either. I also agree that when my reading is good, I don't want to stop. When I'm in a slump, I don't want to even think about another book. I'm also more angry but that's a whole different animal.
