Thank you so much to those of you who shared suggestions to help me through my reading funk last week. I tried each and every one of them. Eventually I pulled the first book alphabetically (3:59 by Gretchen McNeil) and would you believe that's the one that broke my funk? The beginning of 3:59 really pulled me in, but overall it's not a book I would recommend. It had way too many plot holes, and it just didn't work for me.
The rest of my reading week was fantastic. I read The Twelve-Fingered Boy by John Hornor Jacobs. I will try to get my review out this week, but it was a great YA read. I look forward to more of the Incarcerado series. I also finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This reread has been nothing short of amazing. I can't believe after one more book Harry Potter will end all over for me again.
I also posted a review of Fortune's Pawn if you want to check that out.
This week I'm planning to read Snowblind by Christopher Golden, and I will also start reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
My kids and I started reading the Magic Treehouse series last week. I somehow missed this series as a kid so I'm excited to experience it along with them. We are also still making our way through the Frog and Toad books.
I hope everyone has an excellent day today. I'm off for MLK day, and I'm looking forward to checking out what everyone is reading this week. Be sure to let me know what you are reading in the comments or leave me a link!

SNOWBLIND looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to that one myself! I just got 3:59 for Christmas so it's nice to hear that I have something great to look forward to (I did enjoy her last one, TEN). I'm currently tromping through a massive Scandinavian teen read, THE CIRCLE.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm not sure I know what The Circle is so I'm going to look that one up.
DeleteDon't think I've heard of Snowblind, I'll have to check it out. Boo to being almost done with Harry Potter. Should reread Tales of Beetle the Bard and the Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them as well just to prolong the inevitable a bit longer. I still need to read 3:59 but I need to buy a copy first haha! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Did you change your blog header?
I did change my blog header. Thank you for noticing! :)
DeleteOoooo Snowblind sounds good!!! I will have to read it!!! The kids at my school really love the Magic Tree House series. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does sound really good. I haven't started it yet, but I'm thinking tonight is the night. Haha.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing what you think of Snowblind! The Magic Treehouse books are so much fun, hope your kids enjoys them! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty glued to the first Magic Treehouse book so we will probably stick with the series for a while. Good times.
DeleteSnowblind is new to me, and sounds interesting - looking forward to your review!
ReplyDeleteSnowblind looks awesome. I want to read that. And I keep thinking I want to finally tackle Harry Potter. I really like the new covers and I haven't read much fantasy lately, even though it's my go- to genre but I've hardly touched it lately. Maybe HP will cure that...
ReplyDeleteI have been reading through Harry Potter myself. I just finished Order of the Phoenix last week. I am taking a break to read a few other books I need to finish before starting on Half Blood Prince. This is my first read-through and I am trying to savor it! (I've been instructed to by every HP fan I know lol)
ReplyDeleteI didn't read MTH as a kid either, but my middle daughter is obsessed with this series. You are so right! It is so much fun to go through this series with your kids:)
