Currently Reading | Tripwire by Lee Child

My Currently Reading posts are shared as part of Book Journey's It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I finished reading Peter Clines's Ex-Heroes last week. It was a superhero vs. zombie book and a whole lot of fun. I also read Stalking You Now by Jeff Strand which was a miss for me, but my Goodreads friends loved it.

Then I entered into the dreaded reading funk! Oh, how I hate those. I've been pulling books off my shelf and going through my Kindle files and nothing feels right. I finally decided I would read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making only to find out I don't actually own it.

Thank goodness for the Jack Reacher series. Until I pull myself out of this funk, I'm reading book 3 (Tripwire) of the series.

One more thing about The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland..., my library only has the sequel. Why would they do that? You would think they would have ordered the first one as well if they were going to order the series. Unfortunately I don't have access to very good libraries here. I actually pay to use a library in a nearby town. How sad is that? I pay to use a library.

So I hope all is well with you! I look forward to hearing what you are reading this week. Either let me know in the comments or link me to a post.

Discussion:
What are you reading this week? Do you have an awesome library in your town? I get so jealous when I see great library loot posts.

  1. We don't have a public library in our town but are visited by the bookmobile. I buy books and get lots of review books to meet my reading needs. I tried to read The Girl Who Circumnavigated... but gave up because I didn't like the writing style. I hope you enjoy it when you get it. Come see my Monday Report. Happy reading!

  2. That does stink you have to pay for a library! Hope you get your hands on the Girl who Circumvented Fairyland's 1st book. It sounds interesting.

    Happy reading!

  3. Oh no! I'm so sorry your library stinks and that you can't get the first book in the series. We have a tiny little library, but it's part of the county system so I can usually order the books I want.

I hope you break out of your funk soon! They are so frustrating!

  4. Ah That sucks about your library. I'm not a big fan of Lee Child but Ex-Heroes sounds interesting.

  5. That's stinks about your library. Sometimes we have book 2 and not 1 in a series, but only because book 1 got worn out/lost/never returned and needs to be replaced. They usually replace things pretty quickly. We are lucky here though because our county has six libraries and the next county also has six so we have access to those plus two university libraries within a 30 mile radius. We are spoiled. I hope you can find a way out of your funk too! I got that way a couple of months ago. I had several books on my shelf that needed to be read but nothing 'felt right' as you said. I've never read the Jack Reacher series but it looks good.

  6. I am so hating reading slumps, had a weird year last year and this year hasn't been great either. Hope you get out of it soon. I need to try Lee Child, never read him but do have him on my TBR list.

  7. My co-blogger just finished Ex-Heroes recently too (or was just starting it?? can't remember)! Stalking You Now looks like my kind of book! Love mystery and suspense, bummer it was a miss for you though!

We have decent libraries - nice they all work like a co-opt so that we can get books from various locations if one doesn't have a book in. That'd really suck to have to pay to use the library!

Thanks for dropping by the blog, I love your header!

  8. "...only to find out I don't own it".

Sorry - the way you put that sentence made me laugh, though I'm sorry you didn't get to read it. I think I've done that before, also. Thought I would read a book, and then don't seem to have it...then again, there's times when I buy the same book twice...not good.

I hope you get to read it soon. I love the title. And you're right, it's weird that the library only has the sequel...but sometimes (as in my library) we're given books by people, or donations and will get a book in a series that is second or third. When that happens, I try to find a copy of the first, but it's not always in the "budget". So we get stuck with incomplete series.

  9. When it comes to libraries I'm a bit lucky. There are a couple of libraries in Texas that only require you to live in Texas and not the actual city. So I drove up and got a library card which is how I ended up with access to overdrive and ebooks and audiobooks for free.

  10. Ohio's suffered from a crisis of education and public service far before the "economic depression" of the rest of America. (At least three of our counties are top dogs on the "America's Poorest/Most Unemployed" lists!) Public service has had to band together in areas. City libraries became satellites of a central hub in a bigger city. So while we have a tiny little library nearby, it doesn't have much BUT it has the ability to "order" from the hub and arrives relatively quickly. I don't go to the library prepared to pick up books... I go prepared to order them!!! But at least I can :)

I just picked up my reservation of "The Help" and I'm waiting on "The Heavy"!
