Follow Friday: Favorite Imaginary World

Today's Follow Friday question over at Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read is:

It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

The world Mary Malone stayed in during The Amber Spyglass!  The Amber Spyglass is the last book in the His Dark Materials trilogy from Philip Pullman.  I absolutely loved that world and really wanted to stay there forever!

If you've never the His Dark Materials series, I highly recommend it.  I wish I could read it again for the first time.

  2. Man!! I haven't read this series, but I really want to! Is this the one where animals are sort of like your soul?

  3. Yes, that's the series! They are called "daemons".

Jess - I'm not gasping at all! :)

  4. I really need to read His Dark Materials. but everytime I look for it at the library it's out. :( I saw the movie, and it was fun but I could tell they chopped a lot of stuff out.

anyways, my favorite fictional worlds are wherever Patrick Rothfuss's Name of the Wind takes place, and Jeff Vandermeer's city of Ambergris (although Ambergris is too scary to live in!)

  8. YES! I love this trilogy and am waiting for the Book of Dust. Lyra is one of the greatest protagonist ever. Loved the film and wished they released the enitre footage, but sadly . . .

  13. I haven't read his books and have been contented in watching the film version of the Golden Compass. I may have to look for someone how has the copy of his trilogy books. The Amber Spyglass is interesting. :D My FF entry: http://passagesofthepen.blogspot.com/2011/09/follow-friday-and-blog-hop-4.html

  14. Super good choice! It would be awesome to get to ride around on those wheelie creatures! Or have a daemon. I did a project on this series in my Children's lit class and fell in love with it :)

  22. I'd love it if that world were real too. Then, I could have my own daemon. According to a quiz I took when the movie first came out, my daemon would be an Ocelot named Zotius. I'd be okay with that, lol.
