Today's Top Ten Tuesday featured topic at The Broke and The Bookish is Top Ten Characters I'd Name My Children After:
Lisbeth - Let's face it. Lisbeth Salandar is a badass. I'd happily have a little girl running around named Lisbeth. - Millenium Trilogy by Steig Larsson
Jo - If God does bless us with a girl in my household of boys, her middle name will be Jo. Cute, huh? - Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Lyra - Lyra is another strong and determined female character. And, well, I like her name. - His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman
Emily - The Emily from "A Rose for Emily" because I'm that sick sort of person. - A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner
Scout - Scout would be a great name! Then any time I called her "Boo", I'd think I was clever. - To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Harry - Harry Potter is a kid worth being named after. Loyalty, bravery, a deep love for his parents. I'm digging Harry. - Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Cory - Cory embodies the very best of childhood adventures. - Boy's Life by Robert McCammon
Gage - Gage was a cute kid before he came back from the dead and started killing people. - Pet Sematary by Stephen King
Christopher - For being best friends with Winnie the Pooh. - Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne
Charlotte - Only because it's a much prettier name than Wilbur. - Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
Ya! Finally a Scout! I also chose Lisbeth. Gage give me shivers just thinking about him... Nice list!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do like Charlotte! It's both elegant and homespun.
ReplyDeleteAww I like the name Gage
ReplyDeleteI like Charlotte, but maybe as a middle name. I like Lisbeth as well.
ReplyDeleteHomespun! :) Cheeky.
ReplyDeleteI love Scout and Lisbeth
ReplyDeleteYou're the first Scout I've seen! I was beginning to forget everyone forgot she was there!
ReplyDeleteAh, Gage! How could I have forgotten? I loved that book and that name as a teen.
ReplyDeleteReading Lark's Top 10
I love that you mentioned Harry :)
ReplyDeleteI love Scout, too. I had it on a list of names for kids when I was little. Thanks for hopping by.
ReplyDeleteI like Lyra and Scout as well, just got done listening to To Kill a Mockingbird. I love this topic for a blog post,t oo bad I'm a couple years late in seeing this. I have 3 sons already so it'd hard thinking of boys book characters that I'd name. But for girls, I like the name Rue from the Hunger Games, Liesel from the Book Thief and although I didn't yet finish the book Elisa from The Girl of Fire and Thorns. For boys, I like Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird for the kind-hearted, patient and open-minded man and father that he is and Oscar, the bright, precocious boy from Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Not quite 10 but I've used up 3 of my favorite book-worthy names already.
ReplyDeleteoooh Nicholas and Perenelle are pretty cool names too from the Alchemyst.
ReplyDeleteTanya, I enjoyed revisiting this with you! You made me smile! Those are really great names. :)
